Swami's New Chapel of St. Seraphim

Swami Vishwananda has inaugurated a new Christian chapel at his ashram, Shree Peetha Nilaya. The chapel is dedicated to St. Seraphim (l866-1949).

A book that Gurudev recommends reading about the saint is entitled: “Life – Miracles – Prophecies of Saint SERAPHIM of Viritsa”.

From the Counsels of Fr. Seraphim
“… Even in the most difficult times, he who will occupy himself diligently with the Jesus prayer, ascending with the frequent invocation of the name of the Son of God in ceaseless prayer will be able to easily be saved.

“… There will come a time when not the persecutions but the money and the goods of this world will take people far from God. And many more souls will be lost than in the time of the persecutions. On the one hand, they will be putting gold on the domes and will put the crosses on them and on the other hand, everywhere evil and falsehood will reign. The true Church always will be persecuted. They who want to be saved will be saved with illnesses and afflictions. The way in which the persecutions will occur will be very sly and it will be very difficult for one to foresee the persecutions. Dreadful will be that time; I pity those who will be living then.”

“… There will come a time when corruption and lewdness among the youth will reach the utmost point. There will hardly be any virgin youth left. They will see their lack of punishment and will think that everything is allowable for them to satisfy their desires. God will call them, however, and they will realize that it will not be possible for them to continue such a life and with various ways; they will be led to God. In many there will be a tendency towards the ascetic life. They who formerly were sinners and alcoholics will fill the churches and they will feel great thirst for the spiritual life. Many will become monastics. The monasteries will open and the churches will be full of believers. The young will go on pilgrimages to the holy lands. That time will be beautiful. That today they are sinning greatly, will lead them to a deeper repentance.

Sri Swami Vishwananda - NEW BOOK: Just Love

JUST LOVE contains everything, the entire Universe. It describes a love that has been addressed before - after all there is essentially nothing new to add to the wisdom of the Holy Scriptures of both, East and West - yet the way this love is addressed is new and speaks to us at the beginning of the 21st century in a way that touches us deeply.
JUST LOVE is expressed by someone who not only knows about the all-pervading, all-lifesustaining Divine force that forms the creation of the Universe, but who is completely one with it.
Sri Swami Vishwananda's message is simple: Just Love. Yes, just love. Love is all there is. Love is all you have to do. The rest will take care of itself.

JUST LOVE is the first major book written with words directly from Sri Swami Vishwananda and is part of a series of works that will appear in the future. It contains a collection of 52 talks expressed by a fully realised soul to enable each and everyone to attain the Divine Light in a simple way.

Our Judgmental Mind

Swami Vishwananda: Our Mind
Our mind is one subject that I like to talk about. First of all, what do we understand of the mind? Mind is: thought, experience, limitation, judgment, boring, worries. All these are qualities of the mind, but yet, not the mind itself. The mind is very quick in creating different realities and different qualities. Judgment is the first quality with which the mind is very good. Experience comes afterwards, because throughout the judgment and throughout the worries, you are experiencing everything. So, the greatest quality of the mind is judgment, and from judgment comes other qualities like criticising, the pride and the ego. All these are qualities of judgment.

Krishna said, ''If the mind dwells on a certain object in the outside, one becomes similar to that object. I will not say that if your mind dwells on a pumpkin, you will become like a pumpkin, but you will have similar qualities. You will be lazy, and you'll be heavy. You develop certain qualities. So that's why it's said to let the mind dwell on the Divine; let the mind be positive. Of course one will say, well, it's easy to say, but difficult to do! But, actually, it is not difficult if you train yourself to think positive and be aware at each moment whether this is a judgment, or is this a criticism? You then analyze it not outside of you, but on yourself, and you'll be able to train your mind.

So, how many people really listen? Here they listen, then they forget, but they're quickly, talking, talking, talking. The tongue goes faster. Sometimes, they're still thinking what they will talk, but the tongue has already said it. This is how quickly the tongue goes. So, watch yourself, you know, daily analyze yourself. Again, I said analyze, not judging, to see how you are functioning, how the mind is functioning. How many judgements have you put? And see if it is judgment or criticism; see it in yourself. Where does this path lie within me? Because if I am seeing a fault in somebody else, it has to be inside of me; it's a mirror. Like that, little by little, you will be able to change yourself, to change your mind, firstly, so that the self can reveal itself to you. So, it's not a process of one month, but it's a daily process throughout life, but it depends on you to change now, to start it now. Perhaps, later on, one day, you will be able when you hear your inner voice, to hear the Divine inside of you. You will be happy listening to this voice and follow it. Jai Guru Dev.

Radiating Light of God

Swami Vishwananda: Looking at the world with Divine eyes, you will see that the world is simply the radiated light of God shining through everything. Keep trying until you have come to that realization and never lose hope. The moment you lose hope, you lose everything. The moment you say, “I can’t do this,” you will not be able to do it. Challenge your fear! Keep reminding yourself that you are part of God. You are in His Divine hands and He will never let go of you. Never! He always will be nearer to you than the breath or the air you are breathing in.

You try to imagine how close God is with the mind. It’s difficult, isn’t it? The mind will never let you imagine God. When you start thinking with the mind of the heart, then you may realize Divinity completely. How does one think with the heart? Meditation is an important element in thinking with the heart as you sit with yourself in silence. Jesus said, “When you pray, go to the darkest corner of your house, close yourself in and talk with your Father.” Christ meant for you to go into the inner chamber of your heart and speak with God. Talk with your true Self, and you will receive an answer. So, what exactly is in this inner chamber of the heart? Therein is just love, nothing else!

Swami Vishwananda Master Teacher

Master, Take Me By The Hand. . .
Once a Master was asked by his disciple,
“How is it to find God?” The teacher took the disciple by the hand and dragged him into the water of the Ganges River. When the disciple was in the river, the teacher took the head of the disciple and forced it under the water.

What is happening?

After some time the teacher pulled the head of the disciple out of the river and asked him: “How was it?” The disciple said: “I was trying to breathe for I was suffocating. I was trying to grasp some air; I was battling for air.” The teacher smiled and said: “You want to find God? It is this way. You have to try your best. When this longing for the Divine or for realization, God-realization, whatever name you put on it, is like really suffocating yourself, when you can’t even breathe, then you can say, ”Yes, I’m on the way towards Divinity.” As long as this longing is not like that, you are still here in this world. And that’s how it is to find God.

CHAITANYA

Chaitanya (picture) - Swami Vishwananda
There was a saint, Chaitanya Das Maharaj, who lived in the 17th century. He always vibrated Gauranga, Gauranga, who is another aspect of Krishna who appeared in 1500. Even while he was sleeping, people would hear 'Gauranga, Gauranga, Gauranga, Gauranga' vibrating from him. Each breath Chaitanya took changed to Gauranga. Chaitanya elevated himself into such a Divine spiritual advancement, that even when he took Samadhi, his whole body was vibrating Gauranga, Gauranga.

By chanting you are making proper use of your tongue. By reciting the name of God, you also are utilizing the hearing, which will become finer until you realize the Divine vibration within yourself. Chanting and attuning to the Divine vibration will lead you to Self-realization or God-realization. Thereby, you attain the love of God completely.

The Essence of the Gita

We feel the informtion in the Comment below may be relevent to some of you who read this Vishwananda Teachings blog and perhaps do not read the Virtual-Babaji-Vishwananda blog.

The following comment is offered anonymously referencing Virtual-Babaji-Vishwananda blog entry (Link) : http://virtual-babaji-vishwananda.blogspot.com/2010/02/letter-from-babaji-krishna-incarnated.html

Comment: "Babaji Incarnated as Krishna.” In reading this entry, I was reminded that Swami Vishwananda has recommend that his disciples read the book, "The Essence of the Gita," by Paramahansa Yogananda. This book was transmitted to Yogananda directly by Mahavatar Babaji. Link: http://www.essenceofthegita.com/

Yogananda states clearly that Babaji has incarnated many times as the Vishnu Avatara. These incarnations include Lord Krishna and Narasimha, the Lion-Man. Babaji transmitted to Yogananda that He/Vishnu would come again in Kali Yuga as Kalki Avatar. The book is a fantastic, story-like resource of many spiritual insights, and it reads as well as "The Autobiography of a Yogi."

God Will Help You

Swami Vishwananda
Spiritual practice, your Sadhana, is not only to be practiced in the morning, but during the entire day. At night before you go to bed, just sit down and reflect on the day. Ask yourself, “What did I do today that was good, and what did I do that was not so good?” You know that what you have done good brings joy to you, and what you have done that is not so good leaves a trace of disturbance inside, because in your mind you try to rectify it. When God sees that you are trying to set it right, through His grace and love, He will help you.

Yagna - Manifest What You Want

Swami Vishwananda
Light of Cleansing Yagna

Let the Light flow through you;
become the Self and realize it;
and know that you are the Self,
and that the Self is acting for you.
And when the Self is acting for you,
for sure everything will be perfect.
There is no doubt of this, when
you have the power of trust
in the mind.
When you have this power of trust,
this willpower,
then you can create in the mind
what you really want!

Fulfill Your Purpose

Swami Vishwananda

You will fulfil the purpose of your incarnation
only if you surrender body, mind,
and soul completely to God.
Let go of your identity.
Let go of this ‘I,' this egoism that
causes you to focus only on the outside.
When you let go of your identity, then
the Divine will reveal itself to you.
Then you will see the Unlimited,
and you will feel the blissful happiness.

The Omnipotent You

Swami Vishwananda in Krishna's Vrindivan Forrest India

When you realize that you are the child of God,
you can do the same things that Jesus did,
the same things that Krishna did.
All the miracles will happen and transcend
all the barriers that make you a true human being.
You then realize completely your Divine Self.

Few Use 95% of Mind

Mahavatar Babaji Picture with Vibhuti
In Mauritius

Swami Vishwananda: If you really want something, the belief in it will make it happen. But the mind has to be focused and clear about it, because the mind is always jumping. Today you want this; tomorrow you want that. Then how will your mind ever be clear? When somebody really wants something, every day the mind is very much focused so that the focused mind makes it happen. This happens by learning to control the mind.

It’s true that you create your own universe. You create your own world and your own reality, because this is the power of the mind. Like scientists themselves have said, and it also is written in the Vedas: Human beings use only 5% of their mind, 95% is still dormant.Imagine if you would use this 95% and the 5% would be dormant. It is sad that only a few people use 95% of their mind!

OVERCOME

Swami Vishwananda Communion in Chapel at Springen

When the disciple comes into contact with the master,
the disciple has to be loyal. The disciple must be loyal,
not only towards the master, but loyal also towards oneself!
It is only through loyalty towards yourself, that you will be
able to be loyal towards your master and towards the outside.

The second thing you need is obedience.
Obedience does not mean slavery because, often people think
that to be obedient is just to become the slave of the master.
No! It’s the opposite actually. Like I said before:
It is not you, who is the slave of the master; but it’s the master,
who is the slave of you.
But in the mind you have ignorance;
you have pride and the ego.
You have all these things.
That's why you have to listen to one who has already
overcome!

Humility Leads to God-realization

Hiranyagarbha Lingam Manifested by Swami Vishwananda November 2009

On the way to God-realization...
You will not reach God-realization with pride.
You will not reach it with arrogance.
You will reach God-realization only
when you are humble.
And people will be against you.
-Swami Vishwananda-

Mahavatar Kriya Babaji was seen by Lahiri Mahasaya at a Kumbha Mela at Allahabad, India, washing the feet of a matted-haired sadhu. Lahiri asked Babaji what he was doing there (at Kumbha Meela). Babaji replied, "I am washing the feet of this renunciate,...By serving wise and ignorant sadhus, I am learning the greatest of virtues, pleasing to God above all others -- humility. "

Your Inner Eyes See The Truth

Bioelectrography of a fingertip
Swami Vishwananda: Often when people use the intellect, the mind, to find the Truth they become inflexible. They close themselves in a tunnel where they don’t see anything else. They don’t see the beauty; they just see what the mind perceives in their self-created inflexibility. Whereas, when the Truth opens up in your heart, one sees beyond what the physical eyes can see. There are so many beautiful flowers; it is so beautiful for the physical eyes, isn’t it? But it is much more beautiful to see with the Inner Eyes. The Light that shines through all these flowers, all around you – this is the Truth.

Your Cosmic Mind

Lahiri Mahasaya, Mahavatar Babaji, Sri Yukteswar
Swami Vishwananda: Like I always say, have faith in your own Self. Have faith that what you are hearing within your heart is true. So many times you hear your heart, but you doubt it. You ask yourself, “Oh, is this really true or not?” You often have doubt like that. As long as you do not believe in what the Divine wants to show you, you will not advance.

The moment you sincerely have faith in what you feel inside your heart, it will manifest in the outside world. Like I say, God gave man the power to create, to have power over everything. You have within you the willpower of construction that comes from the constructive willpower inside the mind.

Deep inside the inner Cosmic Mind, therein lies also the Divine. That is the point where we have to use the mind to achieve the higher state. Very often we say the mind is something apart, something which is very negative. It is true that very often the mind is negative, but we have within us the power to transform it.

As long as man tries to hold onto even one material thing, he will stay on the material level. If you turn inward and focus on the Divine Within [your cosmic mind], the Self, you will feel great happiness and great joy. But for that you must lock in your faith.

Lahiri Mahasaya: Unless and until one humbles oneself, it is not possible to enter the spiritual realms.

Mahavatar Babaji: The worldly man wants to realize God while continuing his daily life. But problems will arise for him, time is short. A simple, unostentatious and highly effective Kriya Yoga is to be taught to him.

Sri Yukteswar: Wisdom is not a mere exhibition in one's dexterity in giving a lecture. The average scholar studies Philosophy superficially and searches only the outward meaning. In this light University degrees and honors seem inferior and are almost trivial. True darshan (philosophy) means self-realization.

Awaken Sweetness

Swami Vishwananda

The sweetness that you have inside of you
is waiting to be awakened.
It doesn’t matter which path you follow,
which sadhana you are doing.
How you are doing your sadhana
is most important.

We Are Dreaming

We are living in a dreaming state.
When we get awakened,we will see the reality.
But this reality is not to be understood with the mind.
It’s different and that’s what human beings are here for:
To attain this reality of who you are.
We will attain this reality
only through unconditional love.
The same love that He loves us.
Do you think His love is bound
by any limitation or what
we understand of Him, or how we dress Him?
The love of God is not bound by anything,
only by the love of His devotee.

Talking about God

Narayana-Vishnu and Mahalakshmi
Whenever we talk about God, we have also
to know that it is our own Self!
We actually are talking about us, about each individual person.
Because we all are a part of God.
Even though we all look different,
when we remove the veil of illusion we are one light.

Wear Your Protective Armor

Practice your spiritual sadhana, because your spiritual practice is like a shield, like an armor, that has been given to you to protect you. And when you are protected, you don´t need to fear anything. But if you have been given armor, you hang it in a closet. Then when you have many enemies attacking you, how will you protect yourself? Tell me, would you be protected? No. So why put the armor inside a closet. Wear your armor by chanting and doing your spiritual sadhana daily. And be disciplined about it – self disciplined!
